New kid on the Block

Our club seems to be quite keen on "J" Class yachts this year and now there is a new one joining the ranks.
Colin Harrison has just bought one though the services of your club blog "For sale" and Wanted section.
Built by Terry Miles now sailed by Colin and a very nice looking build Terry!

Looking at the others in the distance, are you leading or trailing here Colin?

Registered 306, for those not into this the last two numbers are all that's put on the sails

At the risk of repeating myself ,nice looking boat and the colour is certainly eye catching, just the colour of the scooter I'm thinking of buying Velda when she comes out of hospital.

There are still a few nice kits on the "For sale" section, have you looked at it, or if you have something to sell or want something why not let me know and I will publish it, had quite a success rate up to now.

Lady Fotheringham suffered from flatulence a great deal and was prone to make certain noises when she got excited whilst entertaining friends at the manor, she had a very loyal and discreet butler called James.
Upon hearing these subdued explosions James would instantly say "Excuse me" and promptly leave the room taking the blame with him and saving her Ladyship great embarrassment.
But one day James fell ill and was replaced by a butler from the employment service to help out on an important tea party. In the middle of a conversation with the vicar Lady Fotheringham suffered one of her attacks accompanied by the usual sound effects.
She turned to the new butler and said "James stop that"
"Certainly Madam" said the new James, "Which way did it go?.

Fashion
When he complained that her strapless dress was too daring, she laughed it off.

Its not the cost of a strapless dress its the upkeep.

The outfit made her look a million dollars, all wrinkled and green.

A tight skirt has never yet stopped a girls circulation.

Boom Boom
That's all folks

Etherow, Help for Hero's day

I managed to get to the lake on Sunday as it was in the morning and didn't clash with my visiting Velda in hospital.
The turn out has you could see in Bob's report was very good with a good selection of warship's and a few other craft being escorted by them.
The extra attraction on the big lake was Martin's  pedalo bike and after he had demonstrated it he let anyone who wanted a go try it out, the video below is the result!.

Another good day at Etherow supporting a very worth while cause.

Bob Abell news at Ten, Help 4 Hero's Day, Etherow

Despite the weather forecast predicted doom and gloom and a hurricane, we had a very nice day.
The weather was mainly bright and sunny and the car park was full for most of the afternoon.....So it pays to come early to our special events!
The theme today was all about Warships and the "Help for Hero`s" fund and I didn`t realise the club had so many models in this category!....We had dozens!
They looked most effective when sailed in convoy

The commodore

Opening shop

Landing stage

Convoy

In my haste to get into convoy with "Jeanie Deans at War" paddler, we must have hit some debris is the water and one of the paddles was damaged.
The photo shows how effective the dazzle cammo works.....it`s almost invisible!

Alan Breese brought along his fine HMS Starling

Chris Gutteridge brought along his large scale Flak 88 cannon and had great gun firing it when least expected!

We had a stand devoted to military vehicles and some of the models were built to a very high standard.
There were plenty of models to keep the visitors occupied

Martin Sutcliffe brought along his Aqua bike and Bob Abell amongst others, was talked into having a ride/sail?  Photo by George Barrett

And Andy the Commodore too

Even Pepe got into the theme with his camouflage jacket on!

Another nice club regatta day soon passed and the day ended about 4.00.... when the weather showed signs of displeasure!

Got plenty more pix, but I think we`ve got enough?
Bob.......News at Ten......signing off

A word from Andy the Commodore.

Very nice coverage by your "Roving Reporter".   He caught the day nicely.

We owe a big thanks to several of the members who brought along their
magnificent models and put on a brilliant show for the visitors.   We can
also thank those members who gave a very welcome helping hand setting up,
and taking down,  all the stalls etc.  There was too many helping to mention
names, but a special thanks to Mike Hodgson and Chris Guttridge who spent
time in the days prior to the event collecting tables putting up signs and
generally making a nuisance of themselves (as usual) to get exhibitors to
the event.
You can put this thank you on the blog, it was certainly
deserved.

Regards

Andy

Thanks for the report Dave.

Bob Abell News at Ten, Venetian Night, Etherow

The ace reporter has done it again

Having rained all day, on and off, we were expecting a dismal attendance at the Venetian Evening tonight, but we got there to find the party in full swing and all systems go!
The slight drizzle was no problem.

Alan Higham`s Otto Dampfer was nice presented

John Goddards car transporter was the highlight of the nite!

General view of the landing stage and well supprted clubhouse

Chris and Andy did a great Jamie Oliver, sweating over a hot stove, cooking an endless supply of beefburgers!

Looking forward to this Sunday`s "Help for the Hero`s" regatta
