EventCity Show this weekend

 Don't forget it's the

2nd & 3rd March 2013

Northern Modelling Exhibition

  Event city, Manchester.

Second event being held here, with our club having a stand there.

There is free parking for 3.000 vehicles close to the hall
Sat Nav  M17 8AS.

The picture is of last years event and as you can see the club's stand was well set out, I might add that this was before the doors opened to let the crowds in

Any enquiries speak to the Commodore as he is the co-ordinator for this event

It's also the Ellesmere Model Boat show this week-end, the same as last year, its a shame that the only two model boats shows in the area couldn't get their act to-gether and sort out different week-ends, but you have to book so far ahead for these venue's that they had both booked the same dates again, perhaps next year!.

It's club night to-morrow the 27th February, but have your tea before you go, as I've mentioned in a previous post the Quiz and Hot pot supper has been put back to next month!.

Tuesday Crew, and lettering

Dave Lee informed me yesterday that he and the Tuesday crew  had replaced the loose flag stone on the landing stage.

 Thank's for that you guy's!.
I would imagine that it needed to be done for the start of the Fiesta racing season, no sitting down on the nice benches for these sailors! It's moving up and down the landing stage and an accident waiting to happen, someone going down the hole.
Its said "it's not the winning, it's the taking part" Don't you believe it!.
Thank's to the Tuesday crew for their efforts to keep our venue nice and tidy.

A new entry on the "for sale" section to-day!.

When the Aziz in the top picture was having the sign-age done I discovered that in the BECC Vinyl lettering packet there are only 3 "Z's" so after paying £300 + electric's  I had a  Eureka moment or perhaps it was a Senior Moment and realised that there were 10 "N's" so turned them on their side! Eureka! or senior moment you decide!.

Another Idea by Phil Parker who I follow on MY blog, this is to help you do the sign-age on your boat

An early Sunday

Sunday 17th Feb saw a nice Sunday day at the lake, with the fiesta sailors getting in some practice for this  year's Competition which start's on the first Sunday in March if you fancy a go turn up on the day with your fiesta and see how you go, you never know you could get a nice trophy at the end of the season.
The Cormorant mentioned in the previous post was taken down yesterday by one of the warden's and his assistant, with the help of the yacht club's rescue boat "Hippo" , piloted by our own Richard, looked strange with an extension ladder on board!. I'd forgotten to mention it was all taking place on one of the islands in the big lake.
You can just see the bird above the warden's left shoulder!.
The other bird that was on the water in the last post was sat on a branch next to the dead one, so now it's gone can get on with looking of another mate perhaps.
Now the completion's are going to get under way next month there will hopefully be more boat related items to report with my Abell roving reporter Bob.
More information been added to the history tab to-day, thanks to Bob's research again.

Saturday at the lake.

Been to the lake to-day, but no sailors there, must have all been shopping.
So it was a nice walk round the lake with Pepe in the sunshine.
Took a few pictures as well

Poor dead Cormorant caught up in tree with the horrible discarded fishing line.

A happier Cormorant!.

I know this isn't model boat's but it's just to bring to your attention the fact that there's a new tab at the top "Etherow History" which might be of interest to some of you and let's you see what and who was involved in the building of your sailing lake.

Smit Nederland at Etherow.

To-day at the lake it was very cold but there were still the hardy "J" Class sailors there,

Blue Jay stuck in the ice

You'll have to get the rescue boat out Dave!

All wrapped up against the cold.

Then Donald arrived with his refurbished Smit Nederland Tug for its first sail after his revamp, complete with Mixer Unit and Sound Unit

Nice one Donald!.

Good morning members
Important note for your diary.
The date of the Quiz Night and Hotpot Supper has been put back until the following month so if you were fasting until the February date please stop now or there will be nothing left of you.
Due to unforeseen circumstances the date will now be as seen below.
The poster that has been on the landing stage notice board will be changed as well as the tab at the top of this page, so you will have no excuse for missing this great event in the club calendar.
The club night is still on for the February date but if your hungry you will have to bring your own sandwiches!.
