This past Bank Holiday only seen these Submarines.

Also John with one of his slower boats, not a happy chappy and said he was having to build another fleet, with the fast boat ban in place.
There again I was always under the impression that the left hand control on one's transmitter was what controlled the speed!.

He does build a nice model though!.

Noticed that wooden blocks holding up the goose strings had been changed for metal posts that are a lot better has you won't knock bits off your boat now!

Remind's me of the Admiral that drowned in a sea of Red tape!.

Sign on the side of the road with a message from the police.
'If you drink and drive we'll provide the chasers!'.

Yacht's on the big lake.

Today at the lake there were quite a few of the members there, the sunny weather must have brought them out, even though the forecast wasn't very good.

Sailing on the big lake today as there was a bit more wind available.

George meets a couple of old friends, no doubt telling them all the pleasures of modelling and sailing!

Meanwhile back on our lake a few of the members enjoying the sunshine!.

Even Rob was there home from his travels.

The video today.

And its not all sat on Bum's, the old notice board came down today!, must have been a good job in its day as it was quite a struggle to move it!.
New one on the way.

You know when your getting old when:

The numbers in your little black book are all Doctors.

When the candles cost more than the cake.

Your ears are hairier than your head.

You sink your teeth into a steak and they stay there.

You have a party and the neighbours don't even realise.

Today Tuesday, 9th May 2017.
Most of the regular Tuesday sailors in attendance!.

Quite chilly as you can see the lads all wrapped up.

All with their one metre boats today on our lake.

Then as the wind wasn't too good most of them went on to the big lake, as there wasn't any boats from the yacht club sailing

Don't look so big now do they!.

Then some of the lads went to the Cafe whilst the others retired to the clubhouse with their butties and a brew in the kitchen.
Another nice day, how lucky we are to have such a great venue and facilities!.

Just as a matter of interest folks, the parking meter doesn't take the new Pound coins, they will have to change the meter soon but in the meantime be prepared!

The butcher backed into his bacon slicer and got a little behind in his orders!

Even though I'm old, I've definitely still got it,
Trouble is nobody wants it!.

By the time a man is old enough to read a woman like a book, he's too old to start a library.

The older you get, the longer it takes you to get over a good time!.

Be nice to your kids, remember they'll be choosing your nursing home!.

New swan on our lake, 2,5 2017

Today at the lake there were the usual Tuesday yacht sailors on the landing stage.
They do get some exercise these guys, moving up and down the landing stage!.

They had a handicap today though getting round this beautiful Swan!.

Had a word with Gordon Longworth the builder of this fine model.
Anyone who knows Gordon well, will know that he's built some very nice models in the past and won one of the annual trophies a few times in past years.
This model is no exception, and the cutouts and workings are very well done!.
Gordon was very adamant this is a work in progress and there was a lot more to be done, today was only the buoyancy and ballasting tests.

The basic parts, with the platform fitted.

The bottom of the bird was cut off and this Aluminium bottom fitted!.

The internal workings.

On his stand!.

A few adjustments needed.

A fine bird and more to be added!.
Gordon must be a dab hand at Christmas carving the turkey, you can hardly see the cut out section on its back to get to the works.

There are LED lights in the eyes and a water pistol in its nose, that will be a surprise for the public wanting to feed it!

I did warn Gordon that the real young  swan on our lake without a mate the other day was trying to mount the  large yellow buoy on the right of the landing stage and might take a fancy to his bird!.

A note from Gordon.

Attached are a couple of pictures for the swan. Today was the maiden voyage to test the stability and ballast. At the moment I simply wired up all the terminals loosely to see how everything worked. Next job is to tidy all the internals up and add the ESC to control the water pump when it arrives. With it being so ‘beamy’ the speed is fine but the rudder could do with a bigger area I think to make it a bit more responsive.

Cheers for now.

Gordon

Fast Electric Boats, 2.5.2017.

Starting SUNDAY THE 14TH MAY 2017,
there will be no Fast Electric Boat sailing, Scale Motorised and yachts only on Sundays.
This was decided at the committee meeting on Monday 1st May 2017, we find Sundays are the most popular days for families feeding the birds etc., thus the main day for complaints against us.
This will be discussed with members at the next club night meeting on Wednesday, 10th May 2017.
