Just a reminder from the Al the Comm!.

100-00   8th July Saturday.  Bugsworth Basin Show, Derbyshire.

Have you checked out the 'For Sale' section lately, you might be missing out on that boat you always wanted or admired someone sailing on the lake!.

Good news is just life's way of keeping you off balance.

If you lend someone £20 and never see that person again,
It was probably worth it!

Drive carefully- it's not only cars that can be recalled by their maker!.

New at the lake ,24.6.2017.

New at the lake this week, firstly there is the renovated Lakeside Cafe!.
Had a walk in today and was surprised that although the interior was not yet finished they were doing a taster session of free Bacon/Sausage butties on bloomer bread ( No Barm's in future) and Free Tea or Coffee, which I sampled purely as a duty to the club to see if it was suit-Abell for our members!.
Was very nice but glad I wasn't paying for it!, as you will see from the attached price list.
The interior has been given a complete face lift, with padded bench seats and new tables and chairs, and the lighting is all new and is looking something like a high street coffee shop!, with one of those all singing and dancing, LED lights coffee machines.
'Pure' was on Facebook yesterday showing the staff the workings of the new coffee machine.
I felt as though I needed to go out and get dressed up and re-enter!, not quite really!.

Note the times for servings.

Second item new is the New club notice board!.

Hopefully its going to have a club named banner in the top of it!, It was mentioned to me by a couple of members present, so I'm not the only one thinking that!.

Last but not least the council have been in the car park and made a start on repainting the white lines, the part near the landing stage, which previously was a mite confusing is now straight on (at 90 degrees to the wall) as before it wasn't clear if it was straight or Herringbone style.
So we will have to be careful for a while as they might need a few fines to pay for it, or rather for you to pay for it!.

Don't forget to check out the 'For Sale section'.

Well that's it for now.

Seen this week at the lake,22.6.2017.

At the lake this week there were yachtsmen on the big lake,

Some sailors just taking it easy, ie Jimmy there with the stick and Donald there with the panama hat, back after having a heart attack!, soon get you up and about again at the hospitals these days don't they!.

A nice MTB bought off the 'For Sale' section,

Then it was off to the new buttie wagon in the garden centre for some of the guys whilst others were off to the club house with their sandwiches.

David (the yacht sec) sent me these pictures of Al The Comm's new build!, Al certainly knocks them out doesn't he, not that they look like that!, they are very impressive and  must take hours and hours, as those that do their own building will appreciate!.

Is that the battery Al, or is it the one out of your car!!.
Must go like that stuff off a hot shovel looking at the four props there!.
..............................................................

Do you know why Turtle wax is so expensive?,
Because turtles have really tiny ears!.

I was getting into my car and this guy says to me,
'Can you give me a lift'
I said 'Sure you look great, the worlds your oyster, Go for it'.

Policeman to motorist, 'Have you seen the state of your rear lights?,
Motorist, 'Sod the lights!, what's happened to my caravan!.

New buttie wagon at the lake!.

Today at the lake, whilst the Lake-side Cafe is closed for refurbishment, we went to the Garden centre at the side of the Cafe, as we had heard on the Grapevine that they had a new buttie wagon installed in the car park there.
Purely in the interest of the members, if you believe that you will believe anything, seating in the garden centre gazebo where you can order hot or cold food off Maggie or go straight to the wagon and order there yourself, there is also a Gazebo and seating there!.

Entrance through the garden centre or off the road at the back of the Cafe.

This was the menu I was given and told the wagon was permanent, but as always as they say ,
'Use it or lose it'
It was said that this menu would be reviewed once the Lakeside had opened and put up their price list, as you will have heard the rumours, they are going up market and you might be paying for it! .

See new menu on later date!
4th July Post.

Well that's the news for today, and not bad news hey.
A bit of healthy competition.

Just a warning though they don't do hot food on Monday's, but you can still get sandwiches and drinks inside the garden centre!

Did you hear about the cannibal that was eating his mother-in -law and she still didn't agree with him.

The two cannibals that were eating a clown and one said to the other does his taste funny to you?.

Wednesday at the lake,14.6.2017.

This Wednesday I accompanied Bob Abell to the lake to video two of his latest builds, The Silver mist a design by Vic Smeed and his controversial build Lady Joyce a design by Paul Thomason but with Bob's four 850 motors, as the propulsion, coupled to two props.
There were a couple of other members there with their yacht's as well.

A RTR

And a Comtessa.

This is Lady Joyce

And this is Silver Mist, as said a design by Vic Smeed though Bob doubled the size!

Unfortunately The Silver Mist broke down shortly after launch and you'll never guess why, we found a Poo Bag wrapped round the prop shaft. I'm all for cleaning up after your dog but to dispose of it in the lake is not on!.

The smoker!.

On the day a friend at the lake, gave us this old but well kept book, quite apt on the day we thought!.

So after the rescue it's on with the sailing of Lady Joyce.

Model Boat Magazine, forum!.

Noticed the other day that on their forum they were wondering when one of the subscribers reached the 100,000 views what would happen, because the column wasn't wide enough!.
Sounded a bit like the Millennium when people said all the computers would crash out because the PC'c wouldn't recognize the 00 for 2000 year!.
But then the forum subscribers realised that our member Bob Abell with his build of the "Vintage Gentleman's cruiser had reached 106,000  Last year!!. so that solved the problem.
So our "Bob the Abell" has put our Club in the record book again, like me he doesn't sail much these days, but a great recorder and advertisement for the club!.
