Club 500 rule scoring

Find here additions to the Club 500 rules ie new scoring!, by Philip Laxton the Club 500 Sec

If a person manages to start the race we should get some sort of score, even if it's just considered a consolation score, no zeros on the scorecard! This would go some way to even out large differences we now get. The consistent finishers will still be in front but the non finishers will not appear to be as far behind, which must be a good feel factor for the DNF'rs.  I think it would also encourage those who boats were not really ready but could maybe just chug off the line, giving them a score and encouragement. Maybe for that, say, they have to at least go 10 meters (the first buoy!) from the start line or been in a start type debilitating collision, which we all know can happen a couple of feet from the off!

As such I propose the following as a possible simple method:
The DNF'rs would all get the score of the last possible place of that particular race (except when there is less than 6 start);
10 starters last place would be 1 points to the DNF'rs,
9 starters last place would be 2 points to the DNF'rs
8 starters last place would be 3 points to the DNF'rs
7 starters last place would be 4 points to the DNF'rs
6 starters last place would be 5 points to the DNF'rs
With a maximum points possible for a DNFr set at five

A couple of examples;

Say there are 9 starters but only 4 finishers, if you came in 9th and last you would have got 2 points, so the 4 none finishers would get 2 points a piece
1st - 10 points,    2nd - 9 points, 3rd - 8 points, 4th - 7 points,  --- 5 none finishers would get 2 points each

Less than 6 starters, say only 5 start and only 3 finish,
1st - 10 points,    2nd - 9 points, 3rd - 8 points, --- 2 none finishers would get 5 points each

Not to complicated really, and I think it would help all, the best will still win, but the unlucky won't feel so left behind…
ALL BOATS RACING MUST HAVE A RUBBER OR SOFT NOSE.

Philip.

I have added the additions to the Club 500 tab at the top, to make it easier to see at a later date.
Peter.
