Landing Stage Maintenance - Part 2

 Landing Stage Maintenance

The working party last Monday did a splendid job replacing the fencing around the landing stage - at least until they ran out of wood. Additional supplies have now been obtained, so the work will now be completed next Monday, July 13.

In addition, the landing stage work benches will be overhauled and cleaned on the same day.

Any member who can offer an hour or two to help will be most welcome. Meet on the landing stage at 10.00 a.m.

Club Night Talk

 Club Night Talk

At the next Club Night, on Wednesday 10 June, Geoff Garside will be giving a talk and demonstration entitled " Trains and Boats and .. Dynamometers ".

This talk will describe a new ongoing project on the remote measurement of the performance of model boats on the water, and will be of particular interest to modellers of tugs.

Fast Boat Sailing - Notice to Members

 Fast Boat Sailing

Notice to Members

Within the last two weeks, the Committee have received a number of complaints from members of the public concerning the use of fast electric boats on the lake, with consequent danger to the wildlife on the lake.

Members are reminded that the use of fast electric boats on the lake was banned some years ago, with the exception of Club 500 racing under controlled conditions. This rule was instituted following similar complaints of danger to the wildlife on the lake at that time. This rule is still in force

The Committee wish to remind all members that this rule will be strictly enforced, and that any member proved to have flouted it is liable to be banned from the Club.

Landing Stage

 Landing Stage Improvements

Work is ongoing on the Landing Stage to replace the tops of the work tables, which are rotten. One has already been completed, and the other will be done within the next few weeks.

This work can only be done in fine weather, and will probably take place on a Monday in June, at short notice. While this work is in progress, the landing stage will be closed for sailing until 4 p.m., so if you intend to sail on a Monday in June, please check with Mike H that the landing stage will be open.

Nigel Vogler

 Nigel Vogler

Many of you will remember Nigel Vogler, who died after a long battle with Cancer in February 2023.

His wife, Sheila has recently informed the Club the she would like to dispose of some of Nigel's boat collection to Club members, with all proceeds going to the Christie Charity, in memory of Nigel.

Nigel was an expert model builder, and all of his boats were built to a high standard.

The boats offered are now listed in the For Sale section of the site, and are well worth a look.

Models on the Water

Scale Models on the Water Display

Saturday 11 October - 1.00 p.m.

By popular request, Bob McMenemie is organising another 'Scale Models on the Water' display, featuring Tugboats, Passenger, Military, Work and Fishing vessels.

Among our membership of nearly 100 within the Club, many members must have boats which have not seen the water for some while and are crying out to be sailed.

So bring them along to the lake at 1.00 p.m. on Saturday, 11 October and put them on the water in a grand parade.

The rescue boat will be in attendance to retrieve any vessels in difficulty.

Non-members of the Club are welcome to join in, under supervision of regular members.

Bob will be filming the event and the pictures and videos will be posted on the EMBC Power Group WhatsApp forum. If you are not already a member, and wish to join the forum, send a text message to Bob on 07527 306 859.
