Colwyn Bay Club 2016.

Colwyn Bay Club 2016.

Received this e-mail this week from the sec at the Colwyn Bay club,

We are in the process of moving lakes and that involves obtaining new
Licences, plus H&S and insurance approvals.

Due to the uncertainty of those outcomes, we will not be holding our
Regatta in 2017 and do not know if it will return at a future date.

Thanks to everyone for their previous support, it was much appreciated.

Regards

Alan Woodward.

As anyone who has been to this club's shows in the past, they will be disappointed to see this, but hopefully it will be returning in the future!.
Bob (The Builder) Abell and myself went there this year and even though it was on the same day as our club's regatta, we decided to go and fly our flag!.To give you an idea of this clubs event in 2016 here are some pictures for you.

Bob the builder.

Then he had a go sailing my Duck, the one built by Graham Harling!,

Then it was my turn to sail Bobs Slo Mo 2

General view.

Hopefully this is not another club biting the dust show wise!, would be such a shame as they have been good at it as I've been going for the last six or seven years and never had a bad one.

A blast from the past at Colwyn Bay Shows.

Rosie,Joyce,Velda and I.

Straight running

Guess who with the Great Eastern?.

View from the show.

Not many people have seen this one, the old lake which was where the A55 above was built over!.

Hope these old pictures will bring some happy memories to our members and the Colwyn Bay members.

Will be sorry if they never have any more shows
It was a very friendly show and full of nice memories too
And a lovely ride out, with trouble free parking
Bob the Abell.

Hard to find something to write about this time of year, but hope this reflection of the past year will keep you going until the next time!.

That's all for now folks

The past weekend.19.7.2015.

The past weekend saw some of the members going to the Colwyn Bay Show and some staying home for the monthly steering competition!.
I received these pictures from the Vice Commodore David and thank you for these David from all of us who couldn't attend for one reason or another!.

I've spoken to Colin who went with his wife Pam and he really enjoyed the day, nice weather, nice company and rounded it off by staying over at Llandudno until the Monday!
The only disappointment  he said was No trade stalls this year!.
I think this is the last year on this lake as they are in the process of moving to the big lake in the park soon.

On the home front the steering competition was a bit of a challenge with a strong wind getting up as soon as the course was set up, usually the way hey, strong wind for the steering guys and none on Fiesta Sunday's.
Continuing his success with his yacht sailing Donald had his first clear round on the steering this month!, so look out chaps he's getting too good!.

That's it for today, folks.

This past week, 6.7.2015.

Over the past week has seen Donald win his first yacht race against the Tuesday/ Thursday racers!, (The TT Men.)

Yeah Yeah. Great feeling!.

Public side
Another of the members has refurbished the notice board, which has stood the ravishes of time since the landing stage was redesigned in 2006, the wet weather this year up to now is enough to test any structure

landing side.

Our Commodore Alan went to the Kirklees show at the weekend and said he was surprised at the attendance there.
He had a good time and sent us some pictures.

Perhaps we could have a stand there next time!.

We have had a few new members in the last couple of weeks, so if you see them on the landing stage I know you will give them a warm welcome as always!.

Sunday at the lake again April 26th, 2015

Sunday at the lake again April 26th, 2015.

Nice backdrop with the sailing club boats in the background getting ready for the off at 1300hrs.

And from the cafe balcony.

William with his crowded cruise ship

An interesting situation has arisen at the other end of the canal feeding our lake

The Badgers as well as burrowing across the path to the river, have now started to burrow to the canal, if they break though it will empty the canal and our lake into the river!!.hence the notice that's been put up!.
Let's hope they come up with a solution to the problem before that happens!.

Otherwise it was a good sunny day at the lake.

Had an invite to Colwyn Bay again this year will pass the info to the Committee.

See you next time!.
