We have received an invitation for the Club and all Club members to attend the sixteenth annual Model Boat Mayhem show at Wicksteed Park, Northamptonshire on Saturday and Sunday 25-26 May 2024.

This is claimed to be the biggest dedicated model boat show in the world, and there will be free sailing on both Saturday and Sunday.

There will be a number of traders attending, along with the RNLI,  a huge bring and buy sale and onsite catering.

On site camping is available and Kettering town centre hotels and shops are nearby.

 Boat Judging and Commodore's Challenge

A reminder that judging of boats for this year's model building competitions is on Sunday October 29, on the landing stage.

Judging of the Commodore's Challenge will take place at the same time.

The Club Night meeting on Wednesday 25 October be a quiz night, so gather together a team and come along. The quiz starts at 8.00 p.m.

Hot dogs will be served, courtesy of Mike H.

The Cervia

The Club has been offered a model steam tug, the Cervia, free by Peter Fenlon.

29 August 2023  -  This boat has now been snapped up by Bob McMenemie, so is no longer available.

In his Email, he says:

I have watched with pleasure your boats on the water at Etherow.

I have a model boat given to me yesterday that one of your members may be interested in re-commissioning.

It was built by the Late Alan Smith, of Oldham. Alan was in minesweepers during the war, and has a couple of the model minesweepers

He made the model on display in Plymouth's Minesweeping museum.

This Tug boat is called  the Cervia, and there is much online about its history.

The boat has fallen into some disrepair, but it looks as though it could be repaired without too much difficulty.

Dimensions are approximately  45 “ long by 11” wide.

If it is of interest to one of your members who is prepared to carry out proper repairs, and NOT sell on, please get in touch.

There is no radio equipment sadly but the motor is fitted.

Club 500 Racing

 Club 500 Racing - 21 June 2023

Please note that the Club 500 racing session on Wednesday 21 June has had to be cancelled, at short notice, owing to all of  the organising crew being away on holiday, or otherwise unavailable.
