Over the weekend, Nov 2014.

You will notice that there is a new Venue at Bugsworth Canal Basin, and Commodore Alan not the type to let the grass grow under his feet went to see for himself, and you of course!.

Had a run up to Bugsworth on Saturday, met one of the organisers a really nice spot looking forward to the event.

On the Sunday there was an Impromptu Steering event, which was a carry over from the event that should have been at Lyme Park Show earlier in the year but was rained off.

The Higham brothers plus Geoff and all those in the image took part, congratulations to the winners and participants, the weather didn't look too clever by the way they are wrapped up there, but still all smiling.

For a change it was decided to have a earlier BBQ and outdoor event rather than wait until it was cold and damp later in the year, had enough of that up to now haven't we.

John doing a good job as always in the bar, trying to fit in a sail as well!.

Doesn't look many here but the Gannett's are queuing up for the burgers  and hot dogs, the rest are sailing on the two lakes.

The highlight of the evening for me was the warship "Scarab" quietly slipping through the water and though it was built on two planks of balsa and completely flat bottomed sailed very well, even though the Club 500 racers and Bob the Builders Slo mo 2 were creating some nice swells it sailed serenely on.
Built by member Paul Blyth, who at the Ellesmere Show earlier in the year claimed a Gold and a Silver award for his Warships.

Colwyn Bay Model Boat Club – Mayor’s Cup Regatta

Sunday 13^th July 2014

Colwyn Bay MBC are again holding their regatta this year and we have been invited over for the day to sail on their lake behind the Colwyn bay Civic Offices.

There is plenty of free parking within yards of the lake and there is no admission charge.

The ‘Commodore’s Regatta Trophy’ is open to any visitor who displays a boat and fills in an application form. There are two classes, 1 – actually sailing on the lake, 2 – static display.

Arrivals from 08.00am, most people depart around 4.00/5.00pm.

For those who have not been before, go down A55 and turn off at junction 22, left on to ‘The Promenade’, to island. 4^th exit ‘Abergele Road’, turn right at Civic Offices to end of road. Alternatively plug LL29 8AR in to your ‘Sat Nav’.

Year end report from the Yacht Rep 2013

 THE FINAL "FIESTA" and "Jay" type

Hi to all Fiesta and Jay type sailors, a good years sailing was had by all, weather was good for a change and we even had wind most of the time.

We have had up to eight Fiesta’s sailing but, more are welcome to sail with us, we also have seven Jay type yachts in the club, of which we race on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday if weather OK.

AGM and Awards night 2013

The AGM was another memorable night for 2013 with Mike doing his usual good job of having had the trophies done and organising the raffle prizes.

The Committee for the coming year, stays pretty much the same, with the exception of the new Commodore Alan Breese, he's still looking for a vice commodore?. The only other change is a new Exhibition Sec in Gordon Longworth,

That ended the awards and then it was on to the raffle.

Colin sat next to me, won the turkey and I thought he was going to put his back out again which he had done at the Christmas dinner, I told him it was always better to get a live one as it saves carrying it home!.

So another good club night enjoyed by all and only the frostbite sail to go now, which is always a good Do as you can visit the lake or spend time in the clubhouse chatting to people you haven't seen though the year.

Last event make it another good one!

Thursday   1100hrs     27th December, Frostbite Day Sail.

December Sunday 2013

This past Sunday saw Pepe and I at the lake again, where there was a selection of new boats on the bench, new to me that is!
There was a nice launch with an outboard motor being sailed by Robb and a nice model Stingray sailed by his mate, who I'm ashamed to say don't know his name, that will be rectified the next time I see him!.
There was also the Higham brother's there with Alan sailing one of his small fast boats and experimenting with different size batteries, they were all very fast and I didn't see a lot of difference in the changes really, but there again I was more interested with the videoing of the boats.

As you can see on the video there are lots of leaves about on the water and as my good friend Bob the Builder said mention to the newer members not to reverse too much in the leaves as they can spin your props off if jammed up, good advice guys, I know I'd done it myself in the past especially with Kort nozzles!.

Well Christmas is nearly upon us again and everywhere is looking very festive and tomorrow its our club Christmas Dinner again but with a change of venue this year, so I hope to see you all there, well the one's that are going, if everyone was there I don't think the club would all fit in the place!,

Perhaps this is the band for the night?.

What it's all about really.

Well that's it again, hope to see some of you there tomorrow and perhaps your new years resolution could be to send me some pictures and write up's of your favourite boats.

Well that's another AGM come and gone.

It was a lively one with the main discussion over the treasurers report ie lifeboat day expenditure, the committee will be looking into this before the next event.

I'm sure everyone will agree that Mike as done a great job over the past year with coach trips and catering    and all this whilst waiting to go into hospital!.

The raffle was another success with plenty of prizes, one of which I won myself, that nice blue tin of biscuits.
