Sunny Sunday, 8.5.2016.

Today at the lake it was a beautiful sunny day and the was no shortage of public watchers with their usual questions "how fast will it go!" and "how much does it cost", still that's how we all started I suppose!.

David was there as usual with one of his large fleet, and there's Eric "What No boat!", though he did have his Fiesta out earlier, but quickly recovered it when a young family came sailing with the usual energetic children sailing a bit erratically!.

Eric and Dave.
Can tell its getting warmer, David dispenses with his socks!.

There was Donald bookended by the Higham brothers,

Alan on the left was sailing another of his fleet a nice Fibre Glass launch ,
A nice little runner and so quiet it didn't even disturb the ducks,

And its for sale, the boat not the Duck!,
Nice compact water tight compartment, competent with all the electrics and battery.

Comes ready to sail with its own 2.4 gig transmitter as well, just charge the batter and away you go!.
Check out the "For Sale" section tab at the top of the page"!.

About 14 inches long and not too heavy, so ideal for the older or infirm sailor!.

Happy families!
The ducks seem to have got used to the anti duck strings, but there again it was the Geese that were the problem with their poo!, the ducks seem to be toilet trained.

Al the Comm would like to thank Ray Benson and members of the Colwyn Bay Club for their nice offer to let our club members use their waters when in the area, as stated in the previous post.

2016 Diary and new clothing prices

2016 Diary and new clothing prices.

Please find the 2016 diary of events and shows in the top tabs!
Also there are a number of items in the clothing section that have changed, these are not extortionate but I guess reflected by the prices we have to pay for said items from manufacturers!.

Have you checked the "For Sale" section recently or are you still suffering from the terrible weather we have been having lately, there are a few nice new entries in there!.
We have been more fortunate that some of our friends in other clubs who have suffered from the terrible flooding of late, our thoughts go out to them and hope for a speedy return to normality.
I have been suffering from a heavy cold and bad chest recently but getting better now so will be back to the lake with the camera shortly, being this time of year though I don't think I've missed much!, though I'm sure the TT (Tuesday/Thursday) members have been at the lake well wrapped up and sailing as usual!.
Thank you all that have been asking about my absence and giving me a call at home much appreciated.

Here are some pictures of yesteryear to put you on until the better weather.

Our stage at the Poynton Show, another good venue we will no doubt be revisiting in the future!.

A visitor to our lake recently, A Bean Goose, just passing through and checking out our beautiful venue no doubt!.

Well that's it for now, hopefully the weather will be picking up soon and we will get together at the lake in the near future!.

New Year 2016.

New Year 2016.

Well its a new year again, seen too many myself!, but still can't complain because no one will take any notice anyway!.
After seeing the floods all round the country how can we complain here in our area where we seem to have escaped the worse of it.
Coming down the hill from the Romiley direction you might have noticed there has been some subsidence there and its been coned off for the time being, hopefully to be done after the holidays.
On the sailing front there were the usual stalwarts at the lake today, braving the weather, more and more rain I'm afraid!.

By the time I ventured out of the Cafe and the warmth they were all packing up, Dave was still the last man standing seen here, but there had been Trevor, Donald, Andy and a few others there earlier as you can see they are all on a sausage break and left Dave to look after the boats.
I'm sorry to tell you guys that you are not in the running for first sail of the new year as George Taylor get's that dubious honour the day before, 2nd January!, another cold weather day, still it didn't seem too bad as it was my birthday and Son John came down with his wife and two dogs, so that brightened up my day!.
I was there with George having a buttie before he sailed his pond yacht, though it was just a trial run and the weather was still bad so he didn't linger long, and we retired back to the Cafe to put the world to rights!.

Over the holidays some of the guys have been working with Ryan and trimmed back the trees behind the top box, when I said trimmed back, I think that is a bit of an understatement really!, as you will see next time you visit the lake, no more sails catching the trees now!, and I got a few nice logs out of it for my lady friends garden, they will keep the bugs nicely housed over the rest of the winter!.

Well that's enough of my prattling on for now, see you at the lake next time !.

This week at the lake, 16.9 2015.

This week at the lake, 16.9 2015.

Wednesday, saw Bob Abell and myself at the lake with his "Brutus" boat, a refit with two brush-less motors, I sailed it whilst Bob took the nice stills with his camera and then Bob sailed it whilst I took the video.
Nice mover isn't it!.
Pepe was in Bob's camper with Lady Joyce whilst we were enjoying ourselves, then we all retired to the Andrew Arms round the corner for dinner.

Thursday at the lake saw a full TT team plus a few others ie

A nice little refurbished tug boat that had been bought on EBay!.

Scene at Etherow 11.3.2015.

At the lake on Tuesday there were the usual sailors, but by the time I got there, there was only a few left!.
Managed to catch a few members though.
Admiring Alan's Heywood's dog!.

Al the Comm, with his olde worlde gunboat.

It was a nice sunny day but quite a blustery wind which suited Dave and Trevor with their "J" class yachts!.

And then there was "Stingray"

All good fun and that's what it's all about isn't it!.
