First impressions on the Saturday, of Duckie and Bob the Abell's visit to this great show!.

The large white structure above the houses is a ship gliding along the Manchester Ship Canal 

and into the Mersey via the locks

 Bob.

As you can see very sunny!

He's only got the Chuck Wagon stuck on a canal side bollard!
Just look at the lovely weather!
And a very interesting boat museum, where you can spend a day just poking around
I noticed quite a few of the museum boat relics can be seen afloat after years of restoration

Don't get alarmed that's not Bob's Plasticard in the chuck wagon its mine, Bob only does Big wood as you know, though the one on the right of the picture is one of the exhibits that's been there for years not one of his!. Though if he lived a bit nearer I'm sure he would be helping out with the restorations.

A model  on the Mac's Models Stall with some of the marvellous items on sale, I've had some of their stuff in the past and needs very little cleaning up before painting.

Good day at the lake, 21.2.2017

A fair crowd at the lake today considering it wasn't that bright!

Still it wasn't raining until later on in the afternoon and there was a bit of wind for the mostly yachtsmen in attendance!.

 

Whose's boat stand is that?, an accident waiting to happen!. Safety first at all times hey!.

There were a few Tugs on the water, Al the Comm here is also a submariner, having a change today though!.

Though the tugs were all it one end there is no segregation intended just that the Yachtsmen get carried away at times and put in a lot more walking than the Tug men and on average seem younger!.

Model Boat Show 2017

The Model Boat Show returns to the National Waterways Museum again for another year. Despite undergoing refurbishment, the museum will open for this weekend to host the popular annual event.

The weekend is a fun packed event for enthusiasts and beginners alike as boats occupy a section of the canal including a model dock system display. Model boat clubs from across the North West will be displaying boats built by their clubs in the past year. 

There will also be multiple model boat traders selling parts and full kits as well as being available to offer advice on how to construct your own models.

Admission to the event is only £3.50 and while we refurbish our café and gift shop, access to the rest of the museum is restricted.

Bob Abell News at ten Mmex, 2017.

Roving reporter Bob the Abell submitted the following report 

The show was held at the Oldham Civic Centre

I went in the good company of Mike Hodgeson and Dave Holland

Mike did the driving, as he was familiar with the area

If you are going yourself for the first time, make sure your SatNav is charged, as the area is quite tricky to navigate

The exhibition facilities are excellent and was a nice show.......Food was available and the bar was open

The show catered mainly for Heavy Metal steam fans, but there were quite a few impressive ships and assorted models

Also present was a good number of Trade stands

The exquisite loco in the foreground is a 7 1/4" gauge and would have taken many years in construction

It must weigh about 800lb

Only hoped the stage could take the weight?

The ship is a short length of HMS Victory

Inside the plastic bag are my Corned Beef butties!

Spotted on the Proxxon stand was Mike and Dave pushing another big deal?

The trade stands were a sight for sore eyes, especially the metal stock!

Mountains of brass bar and sheet!..........Now that most of us have retired, we`ve lost our source of supply!

On display was a 3D Printer producing small plastic items...........Cost.....£3000.........Nice but no thanks.

To illustrate my interest in Model Engineering, here is one of my models........

Steam loco, a 3 1/2" gauge Tank Loco, from the Bassett Lowke range

Built in 1966 with my son, Phil, age 2 ish at the controls

Manchester Model Engineering Show 2017.

Sunny day, 7.2.2017.

Today at the lake it was nice and sunny and there was even a bit of a breeze, though not an Alan Breeze!.

Lunch time!.

One lone motorised.

Had an E-mail from our friends at Colwyn Bay MBC, to the effect that they are now installed on the new venue in the park next to the old lake venue. Might go down there in the next couple of weeks to see what they now have, will wait for some better weather though.
