Good day at the lake, 21.2.2017

A fair crowd at the lake today considering it wasn't that bright!
Still it wasn't raining until later on in the afternoon and there was a bit of wind for the mostly yachtsmen in attendance!.

Whose's boat stand is that?, an accident waiting to happen!. Safety first at all times hey!.

There were a few Tugs on the water, Al the Comm here is also a submariner, having a change today though!.

Though the tugs were all it one end there is no segregation intended just that the Yachtsmen get carried away at times and put in a lot more walking than the Tug men and on average seem younger!.

Well that's it for today, don't forget it's Ellesmere Show on the 4th & 5th March, see previous post for details, always a good show and plenty of boats and trade stalls.
If you've had enough models you can always check out the museum as well!.

Fred to Charlie; "My grandfather knew the exact time and date when he would die".
Charlie: "Incredible, was he psychic", Fred; No, the judge told him!.

Dolly Parton tried working as  a school teacher for a while, but it was no good, every time she turned round she wiped everything of the board.

Farmer Giles had a very attractive young wife, he discovered he couldn't keep his hands off her so he fired them!!.

Frostbite sail 2016.

Frostbite sail 2016.

Well, the frost was there first thing in the morning, but at least Dave didn't have to get his ice breaking gear out this year, in fact we haven't had to break the ice for the last few years, perhaps the global warming is finally reaching Compstall!.

Geoff's first build I was told, it looks almost new after a new coat of paint!.

Tugs out in force too.

On the bench.

Sorry to spoil the illusion, but you are interested in how things work aren't you?.

Looks good hey.

In the warm!, sampling Mike's hot soup and drinks.

And you thought that Al the Comm was only into Boats didn't you!

No show without Punch as they say, disappointed there was no Sausages no doubt!.

Well another good DO put on by the committee, not forgetting Mike's brilliant efforts again.

No doubt Andy will be sending out his reminders for your renewals shortly, so hopefully you've not spent up over the holidays.

A Happy New Year to all our readers.

Towing comes to Etherow!.

Towing comes to Etherow!.

Thursday at Etherow (18.8.16) saw a nice big boat that a friend of Garth's had bought from down in Norwich!.
As you can see it's split down the middle for better handling and transporting, I was told that there had been a middle section making a total length of 12ft but the seller had already sold the middle section?, who would want just the middle section I ask myself, perhaps someone is going to re-enact the D-Day landings with a Mulberry Dock hey!.
Here are a few pictures to whet your appetite for a new venture at the lake perhaps!.
I've even refurbished my Wyeforce over the last couple of days as I'm all for a new venture at Etherow, perhaps if the chap doesn't bring it again, it will have created an interest for towing.
Not everyone's cup of tea, but it's a club for all sorts and interests, perhaps on different days that the Steering/Yachting and fast electrics!.

Getting started, fills with water so you don't have a great heavy weight to lug around!.

Here comes "Retriever" to add a bit more power.

Here comes the big one!, you could sit in the rescue boat and this one would pull you round the lake!

No problem!.

There you have it, a nice change on the day, not everyone's cup of tea but what a terrible world it would be if we were all the same.

Last but not least there were these couple of nice boats being sailed by a family, which is another nice thing to see on the landing stage, where is the future Committee coming from without new blood in the hobby, nice to see youngsters out and about instead of in front of the telly!.

A blast from the past, me with Bob Abell's, "Jeanie Deans" and look who is in the back ground Charlie Ricardo!, he was a nice chap!.

May at the lake in Etherow.

May at Etherow Model Boat Club.

Not done much this month on the site, but I fell foul of the Nasty Tricks with Windows Ten!, its been in the news that Windows changed the X in the top right hand corner of the box asking if you wanted to change to Windows Ten!. normally if you clicked this box it meant you didn't want it, but Windows had changed it to mean you did!!.
I found out that if you acted within the month you could change back to your old system which most people were used to, which I managed to do with the help of my Son John, who is the other moderator on the site here, thankfully!.
Anyway if you have any problems contact me and I will try to help, but the free Windows Ten ended at the end of May so if it's not happened to you by now you should be safe.

On to pleasanter things, plenty of sailors visiting the landing stage and the weather picking up a bit now!

On YouTube.

As you can see on the video the weather has picked up in the past few weeks but with it seems, alternate days of good and bad weather, though at this entry it seems to be getting slightly warmer!.

Will try to keep it more regular this month.
Happy sailing to you all.
