Frostbite sail 2016.

Frostbite sail 2016.

Well, the frost was there first thing in the morning, but at least Dave didn't have to get his ice breaking gear out this year, in fact we haven't had to break the ice for the last few years, perhaps the global warming is finally reaching Compstall!.

Geoff's first build I was told, it looks almost new after a new coat of paint!.

Tugs out in force too.

On the bench.

Sorry to spoil the illusion, but you are interested in how things work aren't you?.

Looks good hey.

In the warm!, sampling Mike's hot soup and drinks.

And you thought that Al the Comm was only into Boats didn't you!

No show without Punch as they say, disappointed there was no Sausages no doubt!.

Well another good DO put on by the committee, not forgetting Mike's brilliant efforts again.

No doubt Andy will be sending out his reminders for your renewals shortly, so hopefully you've not spent up over the holidays.

A Happy New Year to all our readers.

Towing again.

Towing again.

On my last post I suggested that one of the tugs would be able to tow someone in the rescue boat!.

Member Andy Quick sent me this item this week!.

Last Monday UK-based Mick Carroll was passing through the town of Market Drayton when he spotted an unusual sight – a man cruising down the canal with the help of a tiny remote-controlled tug boat.
Carroll took a picture of the scene and posted it to Facebook with the caption: “Dont ya just love eccentric’s. Seen this fella as we were passin thru Market Drayton gettin pulled along by a remote control tug. Brilliant.” According to the Facebook post, as the man cruised passed him, he shouted: “Just when you thought you’d seen everything!” Ah. Genius.

Thanks for the item, Andy!.

Towing comes to Etherow!.

Towing comes to Etherow!.

Thursday at Etherow (18.8.16) saw a nice big boat that a friend of Garth's had bought from down in Norwich!.
As you can see it's split down the middle for better handling and transporting, I was told that there had been a middle section making a total length of 12ft but the seller had already sold the middle section?, who would want just the middle section I ask myself, perhaps someone is going to re-enact the D-Day landings with a Mulberry Dock hey!.
Here are a few pictures to whet your appetite for a new venture at the lake perhaps!.
I've even refurbished my Wyeforce over the last couple of days as I'm all for a new venture at Etherow, perhaps if the chap doesn't bring it again, it will have created an interest for towing.
Not everyone's cup of tea, but it's a club for all sorts and interests, perhaps on different days that the Steering/Yachting and fast electrics!.

Getting started, fills with water so you don't have a great heavy weight to lug around!.

Here comes "Retriever" to add a bit more power.

Here comes the big one!, you could sit in the rescue boat and this one would pull you round the lake!

No problem!.

There you have it, a nice change on the day, not everyone's cup of tea but what a terrible world it would be if we were all the same.

Last but not least there were these couple of nice boats being sailed by a family, which is another nice thing to see on the landing stage, where is the future Committee coming from without new blood in the hobby, nice to see youngsters out and about instead of in front of the telly!.

A blast from the past, me with Bob Abell's, "Jeanie Deans" and look who is in the back ground Charlie Ricardo!, he was a nice chap!.
