Club Christmas Dinner.

Christmas is not so far off
So many people enjoyed last year’s venue – the Hare and Hounds at Otterspool – that we have booked there again after many requests from members. The pub is on Dooley Lane, Marple and SK6 7EJ in the sat-nav will get you there.
The cost will be about £21 a head and more than 30 members have already put their names down. As soon as the menus are available Mike will be passing them round but the bill of fayre is expected to be similar to last year.
You will want the date of course its Wednesday 1st December and the closing date will be about 24th of October for booking at the venue

Hoist those sails at Etherow

Model yacht sailing is good fun and relaxing whether you have a Fiesta, a One Metre or a J Class. You can sail on your own but racing helps to improve your skills and improve the set-up of your boat.
Other members will help you sort out the sails and get the best shapes, tensions and so on to go faster – they relish good competition. Reading the wind takes time and experience – but a little flag on the mast helps!
At least the wind is free. Come and try it.

Fiesta and "J" classes shown.

The George pub, Compstall

Yesterday as the cafe was not serving food (water burst) we decided to go to the George round the corner, had not been for ages as the landlord had stopped being dog friendly !
We were pleasantly surprised to see that they had changed hands again and the new landlady was very nice, friendly and a dog lover. all the dog owning old customers had come back and to top it off the meals were excellent
They do Pensioners Specials mid-week as well as the usual menu, tea and coffee as well as the usual beers
A couple of the members went over on the day of the regatta and said the food was good.
Small function room ! not big enough for the club annual dinner though !

The price you pay

Guess we've all been here in modelling  after buying a kit

The price you actually paid
The price you tell your wife you paid
The price she gets you to admit you paid
The price you pay when she finds out what you actually paid.

Is this you

Kirklees Model Club 3rd Warship day

Kirklees Model Club will be holding their third Warship /Navy Day on Sunday 12 September at Wilton Park Birstall from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The theme of the day will be anything naval, it could be a tug, crash tender to a large battle ship. The day will consist of static displays and on the water displays. Depending on the number of models on display we should be able to provide under cover for most. Tea and Coffee will be also be available during the day and sandwiches. If you would like to come along I recommend the bottom car park below the main park entrance. We will have a trolley for large models and also in the park, on the same day, if you like classic cars there will be a display of these as well.

Etherow Club September Regatta

The regatta yesterday was well attended with lots of models on display and every table on the landing stage full, there were crowds of people in the park on such a sunny day and all were showing great interest in the models and getting enrollment forms. John D with his flotilla of small boats was doing his usual busy trade in letting the youngster's have a go, bet they go to back to school with that happy thought in their heads.
The Commodore's challenge was not won outright as all the entrants completed the course, and as it was a set  criteria for the competition it was decided that all the entrants were winners really
As you've all seen pictures of rows of models at shows thought I would just show pictures of some of the unusual models there on the day.

.......................................................................................................................

One of the best Commodores Challenges of recent years was this model using recycling material ,same guy who made the canoe and peddler AND he's made a full size peddler that's me on it at Bury Metro Club
