New Club 500 Boat Design

John Senior, who is one of the Club 500's most successful racers, has produced a new design for a Club 500 racing boat, which should be at least as competitive as most existing designs, to encourage more members to take up fast electric boat racing.

He will be building this boat over the winter, ready for the 2025 season, and has published the plans for others to use as well. He will be adding further information as the build progresses.

The plans comprise 14 sheets, of full size drawings, in PDF format, in both A2 and A4 sizes, together with detailed assembly advice.

These are available to download as a single compressed .ZIP file, which you will need to unzip.

To download the files, right click on the filename below, and select "Save as .."

John Senior is also creating a detailed set of building instructions, as his own test build progresses. These instructions will be updated regularly as his build proceeds. The latest published version can be downloaded in .PDF format by clicking on the link below.

These instructions were last updated on 06 March 2025.

This update contains the complete set of instructions, from start to

boat on the water, and completes the project.

Racing Report  -  2025

The season had 10 race days all on Saturday Afternoons, with plenty of laughs, spills and a few (well quite a few) mechanical failures.

This year we had eight members racing (up on last year), although two members only managed half a season, one due to ill health (hopefully back for next year) and the other due to his boat only coming available for the last four race days (so full season next year).

However it was an interesting season with three new members, even more interesting in that four of the contesting boats were the ‘Slipway' club 500 plastic boats and they did very well, not quite managing to be the overall season winner but coming 2nd and 3rd beating both last years winner and a previous multiple winner (Howard), so well done them, and obviously as the results show the slipway design is good! A great result for Graham in his first season.

Any members wanting to try Club 500 will be most welcome, the most important bit will always be enjoy yourself and company and don’t take it to serious (being able to laugh at yourself is also a bit of a plus, especially when things don’t go to plan!).

Thank you for those who also that helped with scoring, getting and putting away equipment on race days

Next year's race days will be published in the 2026 Club Diary which will be available in the new year.
