The Cervia
The Club has been offered a model steam tug, the Cervia, free by Peter Fenlon.
29 August 2023 - This boat has now been snapped up by Bob McMenemie, so is no longer available.
In his Email, he says:
I have watched with pleasure your boats on the water at Etherow.
I have a model boat given to me yesterday that one of your members may be interested in re-commissioning.
It
was built by the Late Alan Smith, of Oldham. Alan was in minesweepers
during the war, and has a couple of the model minesweepers
He made the model on display in Plymouth's Minesweeping museum.
This Tug boat is called the Cervia, and there is much online about its history.
The boat has fallen into some disrepair, but it looks as though it could be repaired without too much difficulty.
Dimensions are approximately 45 “ long by 11” wide.
If it is of interest to one of your members
who is prepared to carry out proper repairs, and NOT sell on, please get
in touch.
There is no radio equipment sadly but the motor is fitted.
