To All members of Etherow Model Boat Club:
Important Notice
----------------
Over the last two months there have been a number of incidents on the
lake where the irresponsible use of fast electric boats has caused
significant interference both to the wildlife on the lake and to other
club members wishing to sail.
These incidents have led to a number of written and verbal complaints to
the Club from members of the public, with threats of escalation of these
complaints to Stockport Borough Council if action is not taken by the Club.
Such action could quite possibly result in action by the Council either
to revoke our access to the lake for all members, or impose significant
restrictions on its use.
Consequently, the EMBC Committee have now taken the decision to ban the
use of fast electric boats from the lake.
With immediate effect, until further notice, the use of fast electric
boats on the lake is forbidden to all members of Etherow Model Boat
Club. This includes all Club 500 boats, and any other boats designed
for, and operated at, high speeds, the use of which would be likely to
interfere significantly with either the wild life or the peaceful
activities of other club members.
Infringement of this ban will be treated seriously by the Committee, and
may result in exclusion from the club.
The Committee regrets the necessity to take this drastic action, but
consider that it is necessary to protect the future of the Club.
This decision will be reviewed regularly, and further announcements will
be made in due course.
Any Club member wishing to make representation or comment on this notice
may do so, in writing, to the Commodore - alan.breese@sky.com. All such
communications will be considered by the EMBC Committee.
