Sunday at the lake again April 26th, 2015

Sunday at the lake again April 26th, 2015.

Donald and Alan

Alan's warship

Nice backdrop with the sailing club boats in the background getting ready for the off at 1300hrs.

And from the cafe balcony.

William with his crowded cruise ship

An interesting situation has arisen at the other end of the canal feeding our lake

The Badgers as well as burrowing across the path to the river, have now started to burrow to the canal, if they break though it will empty the canal and our lake into the river!!.hence the notice that's been put up!.
Let's hope they come up with a solution to the problem before that happens!.

Otherwise it was a good sunny day at the lake.

Had an invite to Colwyn Bay again this year will pass the info to the Committee.

Bob's boat, 25th April 2015.

Club boat 2.

I've been informed that the No 2 Club Boat has been refurbished by the Vice Commodore, no pictures but I'm sure it will be a nice job done.
I was told it was the usual type Sharp at one end, Blunt at the other!.

If you want a more interesting read why not go to Bob Abell's Controversial build at the Model Boat Magazine website.
With 45.000 views and 1550 replies you will see that Bob's boat scratch built from plans by Paul Thomason has a unique motor setup which I was very pleased to help him with his water trials in his garden with his nice new pool.

All set up with desk and watt meter

Trials went well, just as well as I dropped the watt meter into the water unplugging it!.

To see more of the trials Bob and I did you will have to click above and read for yourself.
Alright I will give you a taste with the video we took on the day.

Now you can see what's controversial about it, not the build but the fact its got 4 x 850v motors  in Bob's " Abell configuration". As you can read there was lots of conversation on the forum of Model Boats magazine, and if nothing else it's helped to put our Club on the map, if anyone was in any doubt before.
So this is the second time Bob's put us in the news in a very big way, as you must know by now his Appearance on the "Coast" program on BBC was a great plug for us!.
Well that's all for now.

At the lake again, 16.4.2015

At the lake again, 16.4.2015.

Thursday at the lake again saw a good number of Sailors in attendance.
First there was Al the Comm and his assistant Colin, who had arrived to paint the Container the required Brown to match the rest of the site.
And there you were thinking that they came to the lake to get away from painting and decorating at home.
Still "All play and no work makes Jack a dull boy", I think that's back to front though isn't it!.

Alan taking a break and watching the action, after a job well done and thanks once again to the member who donated the paint!.

Is Bob there getting excited because he's in the lead or been left behind?.

Just showing off my new camera now, with the red filter on, so everything else is in Black and White.

As you will all recognize, John G had his superb fast boat when all the yachts had finished, a bit more excitement for the crowds in the park with the schools still on holiday.

Judge Pepe, back on the bench watching the youngsters having a go, there again he could be watching Alan and Colin in the background going for a sausage break, think that's more like it!.
.....................................................................................................
On the subject of Judging this is going to be a new format for this years Photo Competition!.

This is from the Vice Commodore, David S.

Don't forget the cafe is closed for refurbishment 20th to 22nd April inclusive, keep thinking it would be nice if they included Free Wi Fi as in most Cafes these days, I have suggested it in the past with no success, still one can live in hope hey!.

Ps
The Coot nesting on the boundary post is still sitting on her nest after the Club 500 racing so that's good, think there are eggs in the nest as well, perhaps it was the boats whizzing past that started her in labour!

Happy sailing in the better weather and longer daylight hours, keep your eyes on the "For sale" section.

Today at the Lake.

Today at the Lake.

It was a beautiful sunny day at the lake today with plenty of Sailors enjoying the sun and enough breeze to sail their yachts.
There as been reports on the internet that this weather is going to last for the next three months but we will have to wait and see about that hey!!.

Still lets enjoy it whilst we can hey.

You've probably noticed that one of the Coots is building a nest against one of our boundary posts, there again its Club 500 racing tomorrow night so perhaps it will change it's mind after that!.

There was a bit of a Ker-Fuffle on Monday when one of the Members and I had a bit of a disagreement  about Pepe being on the table's, obviously not a dog lover still it takes allsorts, wouldn't it be  a strange world if we all felt the same.
I had a word with the Commodore  today and as many of the members in attendance to see if this was an isolated incident and if not I wouldn't go again with Pepe, but I was assured that it was only the one member concerned and have had an email off Al the COM to the effect that he brings his dogs at times and would continue to be doing so in the future.

So its alright for dogs to be at the lake as long as they are accompanied by well behaved owners!.
 .......................................................................................................

Fred said his dog was so obedient, that if he said "Attack", the dog had one!

I had to shoot my dog yesterday said Fred!.
"Was he mad" said Sid.
Well he wasn't too pleased about it!.
