Seen this week at the lake,22.6.2017.

At the lake this week there were yachtsmen on the big lake,

Some sailors just taking it easy, ie Jimmy there with the stick and Donald there with the panama hat, back after having a heart attack!, soon get you up and about again at the hospitals these days don't they!.

A nice MTB bought off the 'For Sale' section,

Then it was off to the new buttie wagon in the garden centre for some of the guys whilst others were off to the club house with their sandwiches.

David (the yacht sec) sent me these pictures of Al The Comm's new build!, Al certainly knocks them out doesn't he, not that they look like that!, they are very impressive and  must take hours and hours, as those that do their own building will appreciate!.

Is that the battery Al, or is it the one out of your car!!.
Must go like that stuff off a hot shovel looking at the four props there!.

Do you know why Turtle wax is so expensive?,
Because turtles have really tiny ears!.

I was getting into my car and this guy says to me,
'Can you give me a lift'
I said 'Sure you look great, the worlds your oyster, Go for it'.

Policeman to motorist, 'Have you seen the state of your rear lights?,
Motorist, 'Sod the lights!, what's happened to my caravan!.

New swan on our lake, 2,5 2017

Today at the lake there were the usual Tuesday yacht sailors on the landing stage.
They do get some exercise these guys, moving up and down the landing stage!.

They had a handicap today though getting round this beautiful Swan!.

Had a word with Gordon Longworth the builder of this fine model.
Anyone who knows Gordon well, will know that he's built some very nice models in the past and won one of the annual trophies a few times in past years.
This model is no exception, and the cutouts and workings are very well done!.
Gordon was very adamant this is a work in progress and there was a lot more to be done, today was only the buoyancy and ballasting tests.

The basic parts, with the platform fitted.

The bottom of the bird was cut off and this Aluminium bottom fitted!.

The internal workings.

On his stand!.

A few adjustments needed.

A fine bird and more to be added!.
Gordon must be a dab hand at Christmas carving the turkey, you can hardly see the cut out section on its back to get to the works.

There are LED lights in the eyes and a water pistol in its nose, that will be a surprise for the public wanting to feed it!

I did warn Gordon that the real young  swan on our lake without a mate the other day was trying to mount the  large yellow buoy on the right of the landing stage and might take a fancy to his bird!.

A note from Gordon.

Attached are a couple of pictures for the swan. Today was the maiden voyage to test the stability and ballast. At the moment I simply wired up all the terminals loosely to see how everything worked. Next job is to tidy all the internals up and add the ESC to control the water pump when it arrives. With it being so ‘beamy’ the speed is fine but the rudder could do with a bigger area I think to make it a bit more responsive.

Cheers for now.

Gordon

Tramper steamer, 3.4.2017.

Whist I was at the Ellesmere Model Boat Show this year with "Bob the Abell" we met David Lee who had just bought a steam engine!.
He said I've just got to make a boiler and all the other bits now!.
He was at the lake the other day and was giving his Tramp steamer it's maiden voyage and making sure everything was in working order before making and installing the deck and superstructure.

New steam engine, with home made condenser.

And here it is on the water.

Tramp steam under steam.
Thanks for the report Dave, nice to have someone's new build to post!
Does it have one of those steam whistles you can hear all round the park that everyone wonders where its coming from!.

A man goes into a DIY shop and asks for some bolts."How long do you want them?" asks the assistant.
"To tell you the truth" says the man, "I was rather hoping to keep them!"

How do you identify the people who can't count to ten?, simple!.
They're the ones in front of you in the supermarket express lane!!.

Message from the Commodore!. "8.3.2017.

I have received my second complaint this year about fast boats on the lake, the last one on Sunday 26/3/17.
I will now have to revue the future of fast boats on the lake, worst case scenario would be the lease being revoked.
The committee will meet on Monday 3/4/17 where I will put my views to my fellow members on this day.
Please remember this is a nature reserve for the wildfowl, all last year I received flack about fast boats, this resulted in me having to ask a member not to bring a certain boat, not a task I liked but first and foremost I have the interests of E.M.B.C. at heart. whatever actions are taken will be in the best interests of the club.
ALAN BREESE COMMODORE.

On a pleasanter note!.
Today at the lake it was quite busy and there was a mixture of sail and motorised vessels.

A couple of the regular yachtsmen.

One of our newer members, Mark Flinn.

Al the Comm's latest build finished!, one of his fastest builds he stated!.

Where was that camouflage type used?, do you know, if not ask Alan not me!, my lips are sealed.

Earlier in the week there was Eric with his latest scratch built Schooner.

And a scratch built tug he had built a while ago.
