I'm Back!

Hi There all, I'm back off holiday's
Too soon do I hear some of you say, that's exactly what I though as well.
Had a great time with the family in Scotland, will post a few pictures soon ( Not holiday snaps here surely !) relax they will be of a boating theme.
Keith Ryder has given up sailing at the moment and after speaking to him he has put a selection of boats for sale in that section, worth a look, very reasonabell prices too!
I know some of you newbie's are itching to increase your fleet!.
Will get back into the swing of things soon.

Enjoyed the holiday but there is always a price to pay!

J Class sailing at Etherow.

Nice picture Wednesday evening at the lake!, whilst waiting for the clubhouse to open for our meeting the heavens opened and then this rainbow appeared.

Then to-day took this video of our "J" sailors racing.

Well it's the Haydock Show this weekend for most of you, but I'm going away for a few days to Scotland with the family, so thought I'd just post something for you until I get back.
So have a good weekend and good sailing!.

Weekend sailing 18th-19th August 2012

Saturday at the lake took these pictures, Nice sunny day, not much of a breeze but enough for John of RJR Blog Fame (My Boy) to try out his yachting with the Robbe Comtess'e I've handed over the captaincy of.
Tacking

Caught the duck nicely as well, the photo not the boat!
And that's two of the ladies in his life in the back ground.
Daughter Ruth (14) there into photography see her blog at

Then there was John (the dasher) Goddard with one of his fast boat and Colin Harrison struggling in the back ground with his "J" class and not much wind!.
Velda always said she didn't mind John dashing about with his fast boats because he knew what he was doing.
I had my Wyeforce tug out and it still performed well after 18months lay off.
........................................................................................................
Sunday was a different story with the rain coming down quite heavy and the steering comp was run but not as good an occasion as usual.
I've tied the roses back in the garden, but after not being pruned last year have become a bit of a bind, catching people passing, I don't know who put them in, but passed their sell by date now, so if nobody objects I will cut them right back or even have them out when they stop flowering!.
Have sorted the woods on the front of the landing stage as well, only used cable tidies so don't know how long they will last!
So the day not an entire waste.
Well that's all folks.
Happy sailing.

Sailing on Saturday 11th 2012

Saturday at the lake was a bit busier than normal, seems it is shopping day for most members!
This Saturday saw Steven arrive in his wheelchair with his family and they had various boats on the water, others came later and we all had a good day's sailing.
See video! here and on YouTube.

...................................................................................................

Coming shortly, Thursday 6th September. 7-00Pm. there will be a Venetian Night and BBQ, so get those lights on your boats, and maybe a trip to SpecSavers before the event , we don't want any accidents, people or boats!
.......................................................................................................
There is a Photo competition on the club night of 12th September 2012, theme as usual is anything model boating!
This year it is the intention to have the members present to do the judging on a vote system so it will be more interesting for them and the outcome will be the picture content and not so much the person with the dearest camera hopefully, though these days with camera's there's not much to chose from with the results, so get snapping and lets have a good turnout this year.
......................................................................................................

There will be a Warship Day coming up after that and these are the posters being put up in the park and on the notice boards, contact Chris if you will be bringing a warship, so he can organise the number of tables required for this event.

A very good cause so we need people with long arms and short pockets, not the other way round.

So there you have it, even though the night's will be drawing in soon the event calender for the club is still going well for September!.
..................................................................................................
If a man says something in the woods, and there is no woman around ... Is he still wrong?.

Politicians and diapers have one thing in common. They should both be changed regularly, and for the same reason.
........................................................................................................
That's all folks, happy sailing!.

Club night 8th August 2012

Last night at the club meeting it was too nice and sunny for sitting indoors so a lot of the members were sailing their boats, and who can blame them you have to take advantage out the weather whilst you can haven't you!.
.....................................

Chris the exhibition Sec announced that we were still short on numbers for the Haydock Park show.

    25-26th August, Model Boat Convention
          Haydock Park.   Club Stand.
        Theme TUGS!.

If you want to put your Tug on show will you please contact Chris as soon as possible so he can complete the entrance form and order your free tickets, yes you get free ticket if you are an exhibitor!
................................

There is also a Warship day coming up on 16th September 2012
so if you are thinking of bringing a warship (or in fact anything military) to that event will you also contact Chris so he has some idea of numbers involved for getting tables ordered, that will be on the big lake so you will still be able to display your civvies on our own lake, if like me you don't have a grey boat!,but at least Pepe will have on his combat jacket!

Warship Day on the big lake,
All proceeds to Help 4 heroes

There will be a poster on the landing stage for this event soon

Check out your diary for more events coming shortly.

That's all folks!

And remember all boats can be a mine sweeper Once!
