Sunday sailing, Dec 2015.

Sunday sailing, Dec 2015.

This past Sunday (20th) there were the usual regulars at the pond mainly the yachtsmen,
It was a nice sunny day but deceptive with a sharp cold wind, still that's what the yachtsmen want isn't it!, the wind not the cold though!.

One Metre racing.

There was a couple of motorised boats there,

Eddie's new modern Navy boat.

and Jeff's freighter.

Well, only one more Sunday outing for the club and that's the Frostbite Sail on the (27th) the day after Boxing Day, so hope to see a few boats on the water, as in the past few years don't think we will have to break the ice this year, must be something in this global warming hey!.

If you are at the lake over the Christmas/New Year period here is the opening times for the Lake Cafe, unless your better halves are still giving you leftover turkey sandwiches!.

After the council stating earlier in October that they wouldn't be putting any more money into the park, they seem to have changed their minds and the quiet of the park as been scattered this past week with the sound of chainsaws as they have been thinning out the bushes and undergrowth along the paths round the lakes, and though it looks a bit bald at the moment it will settle down I'm sure!.

Well that's it for now, hope to get a few more pictures on Frostbite day, if not I'm sure Mike's hot soup and mince pies will make up for it and I can always get some pictures indoors hey!.

First sail of the new Year!! 2015.

First sail of the new Year!! 2015.
Went to the lake on New Years Day and there was Trevor and Bob Dunkerly sailing their one metre yachts!.
Took this video had a chat to them both and as soon as the Cafe opened belatedly at 11-00am Donald and I disappeared there to get warm as it was very windy and cold outside!.
Donald and I had a good chat and put the world to rights and then it was brave the cold and call at Bob the Abell's on the way home to see his latest project "The Lady Joyce", check it out here

Hope you all had a good time and didn't eat or drink too much over the festive period.
Thats all for now, didn't want you to dash down to the lake thinking you were going to be the first sailors of the year!,its been done!.

Next club meeting, 22nd Jan 2014

Hi Folks, been a bit busy since the Christmas holidays, but now settled back into the routine again.
If you missed the last club meeting as I did, we missed an impromptu auction I believe which raised about £300+, very nice!.
Well you are in luck again as Mike the Social sec phoned me to let you know that the next club meeting will be another Auction!, this time it is the Tools, kits and Boats of the late Ron Gill who sadly passed away recently.
Mrs Gill also has some Campervan equipment and a nearly new dishwasher she wants to sell, if you are interested in these type of non boat related things, if you contact Mike Hodgson  he will be able to confirm what is available and put you in touch with Mrs Gill.
Well, all being well I will certainly be at the next meeting and I'm sure the newer members will benefit from these auctions, as there are always bargains to be had there.

Next Meeting 22nd January 2014
Auction!.
...................
Hope you all had a great Christmas and New year and are getting over the festivities and hangovers, see you at the next meeting!.
As you can see the header picture has been changed by John (the other moderator) to reflect the weather, hopefully it won't be too long before we are back to the Spring Header!.

Food for thought.

Out and about 2013

Over the past week we (Marjorie and I) have not been out much as we have both been a bit off colour with coughs and colds, so I decided to take Pepe to Lyme Park in High Lane, Stockport.
One of our members a few weeks ago had been talking to the chap who was the events organiser there and had explained that we used to have a show there twice a year with our club, the chap was very interested and said the person who had been in charge who had stopped us going had now left and indicated he would like us to come back!, the member hadn't got the name or phone number of this chap!.
This was music to my ears as it was a beautiful venue and had a large audience to show off our models.
So our new membership card for the National Trust clutched in my frozen little hand it was off to find this chap.
After asking around I finally ended up in the Estates Office in the big house and found out that the chap I wanted was in a meeting and there was no idea when it would end, I left my Club and Personal business cards and was told he would contact me, still as its very close to Christmas I suppose there is plenty for him to do on the estate at the moment, hopefully this will be the start of our club and the park getting together again as it's a beautiful venue and everyone loved it, us and public alike.
I got a contact Name and Telephone number so was quite happy about that.
Pepe looked quite at home sat on the big chair in the office there, looked like he owned the place!.
On the way out I took a few pictures, didn't think it would be all text did you!.
For the newer members this is the venue in the park, with the toilets and cafe showing there

The shop in the courtyard

The Cafe, as you can see it was quite cold and everyone wrapped up well.

The courtyard showing the barn where the ramblers shelter to have their butties out of the wind and rain.

The entrance to the big house

No plastic gutter boxes in this big house

The tower on the hill.
A bit closer.
So there you have it guys and girls, we might be back in this beautiful venue in the coming year, watch this space!.

Friday,   1100hrs     27th December, Frostbite Day Sail.

A Merry Christmas to all our members and readers.
