Al The Comm would be very appreciative if some of the members were available to get to the lake early this next Sunday to help put up the gazebo, stalls and tables for the Open Day.
As most of you know it can get very busy parking on ordinary Sundays.
This Sunday will be no exception with more members , kids off school now and the weather seems to be getting better!, still won't dwell on that in case I put the mockers on it!!.
So if you get down to the lake it will be to your advantage all round won't it!.

Scene at the lake!.

Scene at the lake!.
The past week as seen a good turn out at the lake, with a good selection of Tugs and Yachts.

The weather wasn't too bad, but as you can see there was two parasols up just in case!.

As stated in the previous post, there is a Charity Do on at the Yacht Club this week, on Saturday 25th and we have been asked to sail a few of our boats on our lake to support them.

Al, our Comm has been informed by the Commodore of the Yacht Club that they are holding a Charity Do on the 25th of June 2016 and asked us if we will join in by showing off our modelling skills with a show of our models on our lake on the day!.
This is a chance to show off your best models and answer the usual questions by Joe Public, ie how much is it, how fast will it go and how long did it take to make it?.
So if you are like me and enjoy answering these kind of questions and perhaps swell our numbers with a few well chosen answers and telling them that its only £25 per year and you can sail  everyday!.

Last Sunday in February, 2016.

Last Sunday in February, 2016.
Very cold at the lake but it didn't put off our hardy TTS Team, that's the Tuesday/Thursday and Sunday guys!.
Most of the team were sailing their one Metre yachts on the day with the odd "J" class in there, though the way they sail there wasn't must to chose between them speed wise!.

The yachtsmen.

 Their craft

The motorised sailors were still setting up whilst I was there.

Plenty of spectators on this nice sunny but cold day and the car park was it's usual chaotic state with the weekender's parking everywhere but inside the white lines, makes it hard to park but later on harder still to get out!.
Still an enjoyable days sailing by the sailors present, with a nice walk round the park for everyone else, the Cafe doing a brisk trade with hot food and drink, I think the staff there do a great job and you never have to wait long after placing an order, the bacon/sausages Barms certainlty hit the spot on a day like today!.

If all the worlds a stage, where do the audience sit?.

Frostbite Sail, 2015.

Frostbite Sail, 2015.

The last event of this year turned out to be another success, with a good Turnout, whether it was the nice sunny day or thought's of Mike's hot soup and mince pies is debatable!.

Today Mike the Social Sec and Bob the Abel discovered that they were distant cousins, Mike's cousin's son is Bob's Son in law and you can't be more distant than that!.

There wasn't much wind as the owner of the trimaran discovered, it usually flies across the lake.

There were plenty more members in the clubhouse with their wives.

The Cafe in the background was doing a roaring trade, a change from cold turkey sandwiches perhaps hey!

There were plenty of spectators, with plenty of families with young children watching the boats.
This was early on!, as the day wore on it got the usual manic scene on the car park, with cars parked here there and everywhere!.

Enjoying the sunshine and shade

Still a nice place come rain or shine!, nice sunny day and nice company what more can you ask for.

Last man standing!, well it was free soup!, but more to the point it was already cooked so saved me doing something at home, Pepe is a chip off the old block, chatting up the ladies!, sat with his Auntie Joyce.

Friend Bob the Abel said he's changed my head because I wasn't smiling in the original picture!, that's why my neck looks a bit like an ostriches!.

There were quite a few dogs in attendance today, they must enjoy the good weather as much as us!.

Back on the landing stage there was a nice little Narra boat which I think belonged to John Davis!, who was there with his fleet of small craft again, giving goes to all the children passing by which I'm sure made their day, and perhaps gave them the interest to have another go in the future and possible
future membership hey!.

What's the difference between unlawful and illegal?.
Unlawful means against the law, illegal is a sick bird!.

A man covered in nuts, hundreds and thousands and chocolate sauce has been found dead in an ice cream van.
The police think he topped himself!.

The police have reported the theft of a shipment of filing cabinets, document folders and labelling machines.
It's believed to have been the work of organised crime.

Poynton Model Show,2015.

Poynton Model Show,2015.
After negotiating  the new Poynton traffic system, finally arrived at the model show to find that the lads there had certainly done the club proud on our final show of the year.
Our stand was a picture to see covering all one wall and a fine array of models of every shape and size!.
Here is a selection of pictures taken on the Saturday.

The Submarine section, checking systems before going to the pool.

Other fine models.

And even a few Sailboats, Bob Dunkerleys newly refurbished  "J" class and Two Fiesta's One Classic No58 and a more modern No523.

Ken's lifeboats.

And to show we aren't bias here are a few pictures of other stands.

Here is Colin's son Paul who like my son is into trains!.

And you thought you had trouble getting your boat to the lake!.

Don't get many ladies in modelling hey, she was stripping down her railway engine!

If you went to the show, I'm sure you had a good time, at least it was dry there, outside it was bucketing down but it didn't put off a lot of people.
It was a fine show for our club's final showing of the year and congratulations to all the entrants and workers who made our clubs stand such a success.
