Good week at the lake.

Good week at the lake this week!.
Thursday and again Sunday saw a good turnout with lots of members sailing, are you or your boat in the pictures.
As usual the parking on the Sunday was a bit manic with visitors parking all over the place, still most of us use the lake and facilities mid week, so the odd Sunday isn't too bad and the people who have to work deserve their day out as well hey!.

And a good time was had by all.

There was even some motorised boats too.

Did you see the Eclipse on Friday?, I did from home and one of our Abell members saw it too, perhaps you think this isn't boat related but think again he send me his picture, what do you think then!.

Well thats it for today folks!

Over the weekend 14th-15th March 2015

Over the weekend there wasn't a lot going on Saturday, Jonathan was there with his Dad and had his repaired Tug on the water, His Carer had dropped it on a previous visit!!.
Dad, David had made a nice job of repairing the smashed bows and it went well on the water again until the steering went awry,
It turned out to be a missing screw on the steering servo, not a real problem.

The Sunday Steering was not as popular this Sunday perhaps some were visiting their Mothers!.

Whilst on the round of the lakes saw one of our members (Richard) who races his Fiesta yacht on the Fiesta racing Sunday normally), on his real yacht and having a good time with the nice breeze on the day!.

After a walk round the lakes returned to find John Goddard there with his fast electric's.
Didn't try to video them as they are too fast and freezing hands don't help.

Gives you some idea of their speed if you haven't see them on the lake.

John's novel wheeled stand

As you can see made mostly with kitchen waste pipe, saves carrying it doesn't it, nice one John!.

Monday I was at the lake and was surprised to see some members of the committee there in the cafe, waiting out the rain which was quite heavy, they said they were going to try out the new large Gazebo the club has bought and here is a sneak preview,

Big hey!, going to send me some pictures when they've  finished sorting it out!.
.......................................................................................................
That's all for now folks.

Update from Al the Comm
This is the new Gazebo there are sides to it, but not fitted today due to the bad weather!.

Nice isn't it, be nice for Bugsworth Basin won't it!.

Scene at Etherow 11.3.2015

Scene at Etherow 11.3.2015.

At the lake on Tuesday there were the usual sailors, but by the time I got there, there was only a few left!.
Managed to catch a few members though.
Admiring Alan's Heywood's dog!.

Al the Comm, with his olde worlde gunboat.

It was a nice sunny day but quite a blustery wind which suited Dave and Trevor with their "J" class yachts!.

And then there was "Stingray"

All good fun and that's what it's all about isn't it!.
...........................................................................................
Have you checked the "For Sale" section recently?, might have missed a good bargain if not.
Added a few nice boats on tonight!.

New club documents!.

New club documents!.

The committee were recently asked if we had a Risk  Assessment Document, so they decided to resolve this omission  with one!, which you will find in the Tabs at the top of the site.
Whilst doing this there was a Health and Safety Document  drawn up at the same time which is also in the tabs.

The committee have asked that you make yourselves aware of these documents, Please read and abide by them both!.

Thank you all!.

Ellesmere Show 2015.

Ellesmere Show 2015.

Bob Abell and myself, travelled to the show together and I think we chose the better of the two days as it was the better weather on the Saturday!.

Loading up on the Friday afternoon.

Ellesmere car park, middle couple, friends of Bob's from the Model Boat Magazine.

Our Stand.
Can you see your boat?.

Alan and Gordon on duty,

Didn't spot Bob's boat on our stand!, that's because it was in the water!, via photoshop of course!, that's the Heywood's from our club on the waters edge there, though I hadn't spotted them on the day.

There was some beautiful models in the judging room.
What a whopper, one of the Russians I believe

It's HMS Pickle......The ship that brought the news of Trafalgar and Nelson etc, Back to London.

Other clubs present.
All excellently turned out

This chap is a great woodworker and his demonstration models are brilliant!.
Nice backdrop as well hey!.

Mersey ferries

The Armored Section , Based at Bury Model Boat Club.

Don't know where this one comes in in the Armored Section, more like the Amore! section, both nice models though!

Outside
Mister Plod was prowling round all day,

Turning help

Some big stuff there.

The real thing!.

All in all a very good day out and the food was very nice though the queue was a bit long at times, still everyone enjoyed the occasion I'm sure, I think its one of the best Do's on the circuit, that's my opinion and I'm sticking to it!.
