The past week at the lake.

After the Fiesta racing on the first Sunday of the month, as you will see Charlie and Rob got their fast boats out and had a good run round the lake without having to worry about hitting anyone, but wouldn't you know it, they hit each other!.
Still no harm done only a blown fuse on Rob's big yella un!.

In the week met Lawrence trying out his new built yacht, built from a hull he had bought from a stranger who had arrived at the lake one day wanting to sell some boats and hull's found in his deceased fathers house.

Nice job Lawrence!.

Today (Monday 15th) there were some members doing a clean up on the Landing Stage.

Trevor an Ex decorator was using his expertise  painting, on the boat house and topbox
Paint the same colour as on the container we bought some time ago.

Under the benches were scrapped out and then Jet Washed
Nice and clean now

Then a couple of the lads moved over to the container and installed electric's in there, will be able to see in the winter evenings now to get the equipment out!.

Al the Electric!.

New signs have been ordered to go on the benches to remind everyone to use the frequency board unless they are on 2.4 ghz, temporary ones put in place until they arrive.

Good job fellers, hope its appreciated by all!.

She said her husband Tom was a model husband.
Mind you he wasn't a working model!..

Frequency Board!.
Will sailors if they are not on 2.4 ghz please check with others or use the frequency board before launching their boats, this is important!, it's on your membership form and on the cards provided, failure to do this can lead to serious problems.
 Al the comm!.

With the speed of brushless motor driven boats these days, someone else driving your boat on the same frequency as you doesn't bear thinking about!, someone else might be thinking the same as you, "everyone is on 2.4 ghz these days so I don't need to bother with the frequency board" don't ass-u-me! you can see what that spells as well.
Duckie.

Here endeth the lesson.
................................................................

Talking of fast boats here is the latest build from Alan Higham, here in the week to test it.
Turned out to be a little down in the nose at speed, a little bit of lead in the back sorted that out.
As its built of balsa wood, it's very light and the strong winds we have been having lately was blowing it about all over the place.
By the way it's driven by a brushless fan!, can't wait to see it go when the conditions are more favourable

Looks good on the water, but as I said under power it tended to dig it's nose in, soon sorted by
 Team Higham.

On the work front
Mike was at it again with his tool box out, fitting an angle iron strip under the new ramp, always makes a good job of anything he does, doesn't he!.

Al the Comm, supervising and visualising someone on the same frequency coming up that ramp with someone else's boat at speed and taking my hat off!.

A day at the lake.

A day at the lake.

While at the lake the other day had a chat with Charlie, just a distraction as he is getting too good these days at sailing his Fiesta.

Glyn was also there with one of his cruisers.

Eric said he had bought this aerial top as it reminded him of someone in the club who wasn't sat a million miles away from him. Having said that Al the Comm was there too with his Atlantis WW2 freighter.

Alan had sent me an earlier email with his latest project and here it is.
What a whopper!.

Here is Abdul, with his wallet, just had his lunch in the Cafe.

While at the cafe I'd noticed something shining on the landing stage, so with the zoom on my camera saw that it was a steel ramp down into the water

On closer inspection and information found out that Mike (the fixer) had been out again with his tools and fitted the ramp to help getting the rescue boat in and out, it's been getting a bit knocked about lately and this will help to preserve it a bit longer, the price of a new one is quite a lot as you can imagine.

Another nice job Mike!
That's it for now Folks, off to the lake again to see if there's anyone there!.
.............................................................................................
Anyone into bird watching here are some of the baby Coots, away from the activity of the landing stage.

Cute hey!.

Tug Day at Etherow today, 7.5.2015

Tug Day at Etherow today, 7.5.2015

Today at the lake there were the usual Thursday crowd sailing yachts and motorised boats.
It was a bad day early on with heavy rain and overcast skies, but it cleared up later and by then it was only these tugs left to film!.
Al the Comm, Eric Presley (No relation) and Garth were the Captains involved, pity there was nothing for them to push and pull about, still I think Alan was of the same opinion, so think he will be looking into the idea.
Must look at my Wyeforce and get it refurbished in case anything comes of that!.

After piling rubble on the top section of the garden last year to keep the geese from building their nests there, this week a Canada Goose has taken up residence a bit lower down and must be very nest proud has she has taken all the flowers out of Mrs Dootsons vase and lined her nest with them!.
That's the way to do it!

That would make a nice big omelette wouldn't it.
Trouble is it's quite cold so a bit of a waste of time for her.

Very decorative hey, Don't think Mrs Dootson will be impressed though

Sunday at the lake again April 26th, 2015

Sunday at the lake again April 26th, 2015.

Donald and Alan

Alan's warship

Nice backdrop with the sailing club boats in the background getting ready for the off at 1300hrs.

And from the cafe balcony.

William with his crowded cruise ship

An interesting situation has arisen at the other end of the canal feeding our lake

The Badgers as well as burrowing across the path to the river, have now started to burrow to the canal, if they break though it will empty the canal and our lake into the river!!.hence the notice that's been put up!.
Let's hope they come up with a solution to the problem before that happens!.

Otherwise it was a good sunny day at the lake.

Had an invite to Colwyn Bay again this year will pass the info to the Committee.
.................................................................................................

See you next time!.
