Show-boats.

Show-boats in the title do not refer to those beautiful vessels that used to ply their trade up and down the mighty Mississippi.
No, this refer's to smaller craft though still beautiful in their own way and scale!.
I know the Haydock Park Boat Show is not until August, but as every thing these days there has to be the  usual paper work leading up to it, ie the show's insurance and legal requirements.

24th -25th August, Model Boat Convention
           Haydock Park. Club Stand.

I've been asked to bring to your notice that if you want to put your models on the club stand you need to get in touch with Vice Commodore, Alan Breese at the earliest possible date, with details of your models to be shown.

Alan will be at the next club meeting, which is on the 24th April 2013 and if you can't make this meeting for any reason, could you contact him though the club directory, if you haven't got one you can contact me and I will  give you his details.

Don't forget if you turn up on the day and you haven't been registered you will not be able to show your boat on the club stand, so act now to avoid disappointment.

As is normal at these Do's if you are an exhibitor it's usually free entry! check with Alan about that though.

This springs squatter on the landing stage garden is a Chinese Swan goose, spotted to-day.
Tried to push her off the nest to see how many eggs she had, but she just hissed at me!.

Gerr off!!.

That's all folk's

The Black Widow.

You should remember Terry Burnett's last build, The Beady Eye, a small but very fast boat, well he's done it again!, and here is his report on the construction of it.

The latest Jet Boat.
The Black Widow!
 by Terry Burnett.

Specifications. Hull fibreglass (bathtub quality) does not require paint. Imported from Germany.
Jet Drive: Kehrer Jet Pump specially developed by Thomas Kehrer of Germany. 35mm impeller.
Motor:Turnigy Aquastar. Water cooled, 2200KV
Speed Controller: Aquastar programmable. Water cooled 120amp
Battery: 3600mAh 11.1V Lipo
Water cooling exhaust pipes: Stainless steel
This is not a kit.
Commissioned at Etherow.
Power consumption (measured) at full throttle 99amps
Performance...frightening cannot open the throttle fully at Etherow as we run out of pond in 2 seconds
Stationary at full throttle: Cannot restrain, not scientific but best I can do, I may measure the thrust in the future.

Regards
 Terry Burnett

Another beautiful build Terry and many thanks for sharing the pictures and construction details with us.

Sunday, 7 April 2013

First weekend in April 2013.

Went to Etherow on Saturday but only one sailor there, as is the norm on Saturday's, so had a walk round the lakes and saw the coots nesting near to the middle path, between the lakes

Proud Mum

Found a big white egg on the Landing stage garden.

Previous eggs have been speckled as shown on these past pictures,
So this is perhaps a swan egg or a very sore goose egg

The Cafe was busy as usual with people enjoying the sunshine for a change

To-day (Sunday) there was a lot more activity on the landing stage, with the Fiesta racing in full swing when I got there.
Dave the Fiesta Sec, and Andy the General Secretary, seem to be lagging behind here

And here are the leaders, rounding the top bouy!

Then it was Alan Higham's turn on the water with his latest creation, HMS Meteor.

As you can see it's to his usual high stand, sitting well on the water with a good turn of speed and good turning circle.

As you may have noticed we are now in Spring time mode on the top heading picture!

That's all folks.

Well go on then, here's another couple of my Etherow pictures

That's really it now!.
