We're now motorised!. Oct 2014.

We're now motorised!.
Alan the Commodore has now got us Motorised!, and here is Dave putting the rescue boat through its trials.
Alan will be keeping an eye on the battery and will no doubt be setting a few ground rules out at the next club meeting.

 Getting the feel of it.

And off we go.

Scuppers my training to beat Steve Redgrave's awards, there again you don't have to start the motor if you like rowing, it's the only exercise I get!.

Have you booked your place on the coach for the Warwick Trip ??.

After the fiesta racers had all gone home for their Sunday dinners there were a few sailors still there, ie Rob and his friend Alan sailing their "J" Class yachts.

You may have noticed that there are some pictures on the club's Facebook page that are not on this site!, that is because I have a new App on my phone that allows me to take pictures at the lake and publish them on the Facebook page in real time, in other words whilst I'm still at the lake, so keep your eye on the facebook site as well as here, you might be on there.
This is one taken and published on the day.

Next Quiz

Hi Folks, had an email from Philip Laxton about the next Quiz and Hot Pot supper.

Hi All,
On the 22nd October we are having a Quiz & Hot Pot Supper. All starts at 8.00, so please come early for a seat.
Four people per team for the quiz.
I have made the quiz, forty  questions a little easier than the March quiz.
This quiz will consist of general knowledge quiz questions, with a few nautical questions
Second quiz, Will be a Kriss Kross quiz, for  those who do not know, it's just like a crossword quiz, except with a kriss kross quiz, I give you the answers, you just have to fit the answers into the right place.
The third quiz is slightly different, you have to find parts of the human body from clues I give you
( no its not just women’s bodies)
Forth quiz,  Is a small quiz, I give you Names of boats all jumbled up, you just have to rearrange the letters to find the boats name.
Regards Philip, hope to see you on the night!.

A couple of posts ago I mentioned that one of the members had a Tranny case with him that I was interested in when he told me that it was only £7.50ish. The last time I'd asked one of the members about his he had said his was £30ish which I believe was a JR one!.

I latest one I'd seen was from Hobbyking and I got mine this week after my son ordered it for me, (I'm a bit of a nerd when it comes to ordering online) and here it is.

There is my Spektrum nice and secure in it's case and there is even space in the lid for a few other Bitz and Bobz, I will bring it to the next club meeting for anyone to check it out before splashing out £7.50, Just remember to order from the UK warehouse and not the International warehouse, or you will be paying more for the postage than the case!!.

Today I've been to the lake and on a previous visit I thought the garden area was looking a bit tatty with flower pots full of weeds and being pushed up from the ground by said weeds. As most of the members are only interested with sailing their boats  and hardly look at the  garden I've taken it upon myself to dig out the pots and fill in the holes with fresh pea gravel, and at the same time after complaints from the lads about the thorns on the rose bushes catching their clothes and sails dug them out too!.

As  you can see from the picture it looks a lot tidier and is now completely maintenance free!.
The things you do when you take a sail boat to the lake and there is no wind!.
Regards Peter.

Quiz and Hot pot supper.

Just a reminder!.

Now on to the next DO at the club which will be on the 26th of this month its one of our Phil's famous Quizzes, followed with one of Mike's Hot Pot suppers, which I'm sure the older members will all be aware of how good they are, judging by the numbers on these nights.
Another reminder nearer the time so you don't forget hey.
And this is the reminder!.

Enjoy yourselves.

Ps I thought the Spring header might have been too early, It's been sleet, rain and high winds since I changed it. Still come and have some Hot pot and air your knowledge at the quiz.

Alan's latest build.

Now the excitement of Ellesmere has died down I will share with you an email I received from our new Commodore Alan Breese a couple of weeks ago.

Just ballasting my latest effort the german raider atlantis. in the pond in the garden. this has been one of my longest builds
 Alan.

Not sure if he means longest in time or length, I asked him for some more details for you and here they are.
Duckie

The length 61 ins aol by 9in beam, powered by a motor from an electric drill, will use 6v for reasonable speed, also found a website in Germany that do tee-shirts and memorabilia of 2nd ww kriegsmarine vessels.
Her proper title is Hilfskreuzer Shiff 16. Atlantis formally Goldenfels she was sunk in 1941 by HMS Devonshire.
see you in my tee-shirt?.
Alan.

That's looking like your usual expert builds Alan, but perhaps it would be better if you got a tee-shirt of the HMS Devonshire that sank her, don't you think guys!.
Perhaps Roy cragg has a model of the Devonshire so we could have a re-enactment hey.
Perhaps another Warship day as well to suit all all our grey boat guys!.

Duckie.
